Responsible for directing and managing accounting functions, which may include monthly financial statements, reporting, cost and budgeting, recoupments, refund processing, system testing, researching returned mail, disbursements, cost allocation, accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, accounts payable and billing, as well as the quarterly and annual compliance areas, including taxes. Provides assistance on multiple accounting initiatives, including proposals, government regulatory compliance, annual/quarterly reporting and other ad hoc projects. Compiles, consolidates and reports financial data monthly, quarterly and annually based on corporate policy and internal and external requirements. Provides an analysis between proposed contract costs versus actual costs. Interacts with senior management and project management regarding profitability and status of projects, including estimate-to-completion reporting. Focuses on staff development and improving technical proficiencies, as well as professional growth and employee morale.Required EducationBachelor's degree in accounting or a related degree with 24 semester hours of accounting. (Anyone hired before Aug. 1, 2008, in an accounting position only requires 21 semester hours of accounting.)Preferred:CPA or CMA.Required Work ExperienceEight years of accounting experience, including two years in a supervisory role, OR One year of supervisory experience and three years of experience in a lead role, OR Two years of equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.Preferred:Experience with government cost accounting, including submission of incurred costs. Five years of experience managing P & L. Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Cognos and SharePoint. Experience with FAR & CAS.Required Skills and AbilitiesIn-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong project management, organizational, decision-making and flexibility skills. Proficiency in business math. Excellent professional written and oral communications skills. Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts. Able to persuade, influence and negotiate with others.
