The Nurse Educator coordinates the orientation process of all nursing staff. Assess staffcompetency and provides on:going education based on departmental needs. The Nurse Educatorshall determine areas requiring staff development and design specific in:service trainingprogram. The goal is to center services on the patient and to maximize the efficient and costeffective use of health resources. Minimum RequirementsGraduate from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited school of nursing.Must have and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)in the State of South Carolina or possess a multi:state compact license recognized by the State of South Carolina to practice professional nursing and maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.BachelorA?s Degree in nursing education or other related healthcare or education field highly preferred. Must have at least two years of post:licensure clinical nursing experience. Must be certified as a Basic Life Support Instructor and maintain certification in basic life support (BLS) as a health care provider. Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form.Ability to use computers and the typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and various database systems.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops, plans, and maintains an effective staff education program.Plans and coordinates the individualized orientation for all nursing staff (RN, LPN, CNAA?s, MHTs, and nursing agency personnel).Coordinates requirements for the award and approval of CRCC as a certified provider of continuing education for nursing personnel. Facilitates continuing education program for nursing staff.Coordinates hospital:wide employee orientation for nursing staff. Coordinates/implements educational programs for nursing staff. Tracks and trends statistical information pertaining to the ongoing competence of nursing personnel.Develops a process to ensure clinical competency of all nursing staff. Acts as a resource to nurses regarding clinical practice.Ensures that staff competencies are assessed and documented during the orientation period, when implementing a new procedure and annually.Work closely with the Training Coordinator for scheduling of education classes.Work closely with Performance Improvement and Compliance Administrator (PI) to ensure adequate care and documentation.Participates in the Performance Improvement program by monitoring specific aspects of patient care as required by the Department. Collaborates with the nursing administration team to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, federal, and state anizes schedules and teaches staff and inmate education in accordance with NCCHC and ACA standards, as well as facility policy and procedures.Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals and related materials and by attending seminar, conferences, etc.Chairs and attends meetings as assigned.Facilitates training affiliation agreements to engage student:nursing programs with local nursing schools.
