The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor The University of South Carolina School of Medicine was formed in the late s and has experienced substantial growth in its research and educational programs The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy has an energetic group of faculty with research expertise in cardiovascular development and disease regenerative medicine biomaterials reproductive biology and extracellular matrix Applicants must have a PhD and postdoctoral experience in a research area that integrates with the focus areas of the department Successful candidates are expected to establish an externally funded research program of national and international prominence Applicants are also expected to have teaching interests and experience that allow integration into departmental educational responsibilities Faculty in the department teach highly respected courses in human anatomy histology cell biology biochemistry microscopy and other areas in the medical graduate and undergraduate educational programs of the university Departmental teaching responsibilities include participation in the Biomedical Engineering program This is a rapidly growing program that trains over undergraduate and graduate students and is comprised of over fifty core and affiliate faculty members in the School of Medicine and College of Engineering and Computing Successful applicants are expected to have research and teaching interests that warrant participation as affiliate or core faculty in this program Appointed faculty will receive strong mentorship from senior faculty in the School of Medicine and may be eligible for target faculty status on multi investigator grants centered at the University of South Carolina including NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence COBRE and IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence INBRE programs Applicants should submit their application including a cover letter curriculum vitae research plan and contact information of at least three references as a single pdf electronically to CBAapplications uscmed sc edu The department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research teaching and or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled The University of South Carolina is an affirmative action equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in educational or employment opportunities or decisions for qualified persons on the basis of race sex gender age color religion national origin disability genetics sexual orientation or veteran status Minorities and women are encouraged to apply The University of South Carolina is responsive to the needs of dual career couples The Chronicle of Higher Education Category Education Keywords Cell Biology Assistant Professor
