Job DetailsMasters Degree PreferredBLS for Healthcare Providers requiredCurrent South Carolina RN license required2-4 years experience requiredJob Summary: Responsible for the provision and evaluation of nursing care in department. All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Palmetto Health's values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity and teamwork. Responsibilities: Provide effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital's primary functions. Implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services. Manage departmental budget, including processes to monitor operational and capital costs. Manage department human resources by: determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management. Continuously assess and improve the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities. Manage information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement. Manage the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks; preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors. Requirements: Education: BSN required, MSN preferred Experience: At least one year management experience; critical care background; three years nursing experience Number and Type of Employees Supervised: Professional and non-professional personnel Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: RN currently licensed in South Carolina; Current BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required prior to start date directly through the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the military. (To register: Blended Learning or In Person BLS through the American Red Cross; or Classroom or Skills Session BLS through the American Heart Association. Certification must include an in-person skills session. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required within 90 days of start date. Special Training: Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to treat patients; other training as required by department; effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
