Food – UNCLE BEN’S®, DOLMIO®, EBLY®, MASTERFOODS®, SEEDS OF CHANGE® and ROYCO®; Drinks – ALTERRA COFFEE ROASTERS™, THE BRIGHT TEA COMPANY™, KLIX® and FLAVIA®; Symbioscience – COCOAVIA® and WISDOM PANEL®.Purpose of RoleThe primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the manufacturing areas and the general office area remain clean and free of microbiological contamination. This position manages the sanitation area of the facility, both production area and janitorial. This also includes supervision of shift associates along with the day based team. This Manager will coordinate the short-term activities of this area within established guidelines and standards. It is responsible for implementing site and corporate Food Safety & Sanitation initiatives, and more specifically for developing the Sanitation Program for Columbia that supports the existing and expanding Food Safety requirements. The Sanitation Manager will facilitate teams in his/her area of responsibility and conduct or coordinate the necessary training for both the individual associates and the team. This supervisor will implement and enforce established policy and strategy. Principal AccountabilitiesManage the efforts of the sanitation team that supports efficient conversion of materials into quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner within the product design specifications. Recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization, as needed, to assure that the objectives of the sanitation area are met. Maintain a high performing team environment, able to resolve associate relations issues. Responsible for hiring, training, retraining, developing and motivating the Sanitation associates. Create a self-managed team that is able to work with a minimum degree of guidance from the Site Manager.   With the general guidance of the Site Manager, establish area performance standards and goals, and measure, control, take corrective action and report results as appropriate. At this stage of technical development, and under the general guidance of the Site Manager, the Sanitation Manager utilizes the technical resources on shift for the preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of equipment problems, with the objective of effectively using these resources to achieve desired performance levels. Ensure that open communications are established and that opportunities to broaden the scope and responsibility of the Sanitation associates are undertaken. Advise the Site Manager when opportunities exist for moving the area forward in technological change. Participate with the Site Manager in the implementation of improvement strategies that will help the area perform more effectively in the near term. Evaluate associate performance and develop, in conjunction with associate's plans, to challenge their potential. Provide growth and development opportunities for associates to fill internal staffing needs.Keep abreast of the managerial and technical competencies, both within and outside Mars Petcare, USA Site Manager& QA Coordinator will provide guidance, training and mentoring throughout development of the Sanitation Lead position. Key Functional Skills/KnowledgeKnowledge of manufacturing procedures to include but not limited to receiving commodities, all aspects of processing, packaging, and warehouse operations. Successful candidate will possess an excellent working knowledge of all production equipment, site layout, sanitation tool use and preventive maintenance. Minimum Qualifications3 years of managerial experience with a demonstrated ability and desire to work with people, both individually as well as in teams. Broad understanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with individuals at all levels and functions.The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a related field.Ability to travel 5% of the timeWilling to work occasional weekends  Preferred Qualifications:BS in Science or Engineering, or related fieldMars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
